Digging the Beach

Playing along with the July sketch at Creative Scrappers.
The cut file I used is from Just Nick Studios called the chopsticks background. I selected just a section of it to work with the sketch.
I used several Crate Paper Maggie Holmes papers from Shine to coordinate with this sandy picture. The Thickers and cork embelishments played into the sand color vibe as well!
Always fun to document summer photos of family at the beach. They spent so much time digging and burying each other in the sand! This quote went well with this moment!

We Mermaid 4 Each Other

The current issue at Paper Issues is called Gleam Catchers. It calls for shiny, glittery, and all that sparkles! I think this mermaid tail fits the requirements. I was so inspired by this video lesson by Sandy "Ohsnapgonzo" on YouTube. I made my own cut file on the Silhouette for the tail. You can enjoy it here
Some sequins were the adhesive ones from We R MemoryKeepers and others were from various kits (Studio Calico and Paper Issues Swag Bags) that needed destashing!  I completed the whole mermaid tail while watching The Bachelorette. Perfect mindless tv to adhere sequins!
I kept adding more sequins to fill and overlap my traced pattern of the cut file on white cardstock.
I added foam adhesive around the cut file after I machine stitched around it. This keeps it elevated above the sequin layer.
The layout before pictures and embellishments. Super sparkly and just what I was hoping it would look like!
Pictures matted on vellum papers, journaling, date stamp, and a few Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness embellishments. Blue background paper for a mermaid water vibe. Thank you for checking this project out!

Waterpark

A two-pager! Playing along with Two-fer Tuesday at Paper Issues. I was inspired by Becky's sunburst paper and found one to coordinate with my stash busting Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine.
After I cut several pictures of my son in action with my circle cutters, I popped some up and added the title letters.
I found this anchor in the Target Dollar Spot clearance!
Always getting my stitching on! I have all the colors of thread thanks to my mom!
Embellishments and done! Left side.
Right side. Thanks for checking it out! Happy summer!

Happy Dance

Looking for a project that uses your favorite scraps or cut away strips from papers? Concentric designs like a star, heart, diamond, or square can work with this idea! I went with the mega stars to play with the sketch for July at Paper Issues.
I sketched the design on the Silhouette Cameo using sketch pens/pencil. Lightly adhere the center of each scrap on the line. You want to be able to lift up the edges after they are sewn down!
It's always hard to decide what to cover because I usually love how it all looks!
Get out your fave collection and embellish! In my case, I used Pink Paislee's Fancy Free which I love something huge! I use vellum to soften the layers and set the photo up on pop dots for dimension above the textured background! This idea originated from Paige Evan's "Paige's Pages" class at Big Picture Classes. I love having a springboard to prompt an idea when I'm stuck! I also did this idea with this LO:
Different look with this pencil pattern by Amy Tangerine! Try it out!

Here We Go 2015

I lifted a cool LO by Paige Evans using her circles paper from Fancy Free. First step: watercolor circles and add white acrylic paint drops to the BazzillBasics ombré paper.
Next, add matching punched circles. Put foam adhesive under some for dimension. Also, get messy threads of matching colors under some circles.
Cut circle photos to add on top of some circles. Add buttons in between and add enamel dots.
Journal around some circles!
Add Pink Paislee Fancy Free stickers to some circles! Mat the LO on soft pink cardstock and a sheet of circle paper. Done!

Cool in the Pool

Love this circles cloud from The Cut Shoppe that I stitched and turned into bubbles in the water. I used all Dear Lizzy papers and stickers for this pool picture of Brooklyn doing fun jumps off the diving board!
I used the packaging technique to drop the water splashes onto the background.
One more of the fun picture! Yay, summer!
Love The Cut Shoppe's Open Letters for fun title options!

Life is Better in Flip Flops

I used the sketch for June for Paper Issues. I had lots of FancyPants Designs papers to use from last summer and they paired with this cool Simple Stories woodgrain paper!
Little bits from Studio Calico and Michaels.
Love the little clear alpha from Imaginisce that I added to the letter A. The vellum helps to unify the word Beach and keeps it from getting lost on the woodgrain paper. Happy summer!

Paradise Petals

Playing along with Orange Gearle's Mix It Up Monday at Paper Issues. The challenge was to use acrylic paint. I mixed it with watercolors.
Next, I added stitching to all grid squares and added the woodgrain Simple Stories paper.
Lots of layered 3x4 cards from Simple Stories with stickers. I love hibiscus flowers something fierce!
Messy thread from my mom's thread collection! I'm helping her to destash, too!

Spring Break

Trying out the Cameo sketch pens to do the journaling about our spring break adventures.
The cut files spring and break were made by welding several fonts together of the same word. Little embellishment bits to add layers and this scraplift from Paper Issues F & F Ann Tamini is done!
