Traveler's Notebook Summer Travels

Hello, I am here share with you my spin on 52 Favorites! For those of you keeping track it is already week 27! I wanted to document stops in CA and places I thought were too cool to miss my moment standing there.

I love documenting summer life with my family, especially when I am traveling and taking lots of photos. The TN style fits this type of documenting so well. I used several PI scrapbook kits and Swag Bags to quickly create my cover and inside pages to kick off my "52 faves:summer edition!"

A favorite of mine is to use patterned paper to layer over the thin TN pages. The Carta Bella travel cut apart page from the June PI Pontoon Scrapbook kit was perfect to layer! How about all the cute mini letters from Pinkfresh!? When they arrive in the shop get alllllllll the colors!

So the focus of my photo collage was places I walked to, stood on, cool stuff on the ground and yes, a good pedicure nail color! Does anyone else take pictures like that when you travel?  I especially love the words in the wooden entry way planks that I found in the Unsung Brewery in Anaheim.

Here's my TN cover for summer using Shimelle's Sparkle City globe and Simple Stories summer sticker. Grab a similar traveler's notebook from the store. Mine is from Echo Park Paper.

I have also started prepping other pages for photos, tickets, receipts, and maps from our travels. Don't forget to use those cut off paper branding strips, like this one from Carta Bella Let's Travel.

Have a wonderful weekend!
I hope you have taken lots of photos to document your summer fun!

Scraplift Sunday- Family

Hello!  It is Sunday, and that means there's an all new Scraplift Sunday to check out at Paper Issues.  Today I am showing my lift of Angie's amazing concentric circles!  I am up on the Paper Issues blog today with more on this lift including Angie's original.

Circles are a design element I am drawn to and I couldn't wait to change up the design slightly by using a circular cut file.  The Concentric Dotty Rings free cut file  was perfect for the base of this design idea. I used the Authentique floral paper from the November PI kit: Family Tradition to peek through the back of the cut file. It was a subtle way to add colors behind my background.

Check out the amazing  Jen Hadfield Patio Party woodgrain Thicker words, and I was drawn to how Angie used them in her design.  I lifted that immediately from the PI November kit (yes, the amazing wood-look Thickers are included!), and started pulling little leaves stickers, chipboard, and fall ephemera items.  This November kit includes so many it was easy to find enough to cover the entire space!

Stamps are something  I have so many of and yet, I rarely pull them out to add them to my page designs.  I adore how Angie had the Heidi Swapp word stamps sprinkled throughout her circles admist the ephemera pieces.  Since the cut file had so many holes, I limited the stamping to just a few in three spaces.  The handwritten stamp words by Heidi Swapp are a must to have if you don't already own them!

The gold mist was the perfect touch to add to the swirly effect of the fall leaves.  I added it at the end and love the added color it brings to the design.  The November Family Tradition kit made this design come together so quickly.  I also snuck in there the October kit: Uma Thurman's PLS Corn Maze paper for my photo mat.  It is definitely not just a Halloween kit. The double sided papers are so versatile for other projects.

We hope you are still playing along with this weekend's Fall Online Crop at Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook group. There are so many fun challenges to get inspired. Hope to see your entries in the crop albums!

This week's SLS will be posted in the November challenge album. Play along all month long on the November challenges.  This one is a great one to play along with and customize like I did by using a cut file, stamps, embellishments or stickers.

Thankful: I heart Fall

Today it's all about math on Paper Issues--Add it Up challenge is live on the blog and you need 200 or more points on your projects.
I used Carta Bella Hello Fall and some PI free cut files on my project to get to 200 points.

Here's the chart to help you tabulate!

A few closeups:
Carta Bella Hello Fall was a must to coordinate with my guy's adorable rascal shirt.  The woodland critters had to be used!

Gold shimmer and fall is my favorite! Mist drops for fall leaves. Find the cut files for free in the free files section of the PI shop. I love the Fall is my Favorite cut file--my fave is the i (heart) fall script!

Add all the fall colors of mist--packaging technique with gesso gold, Heidi Colorshine gold mist drops, tan and orange mist drops. Stickers, puffy enamel stickers, and enamel dots to add movement and dimension! I used the PI swag bag for November for several embellishments as well.

I hope you decide to Add it Up, too this month! Join us and play along!

Swag Bag November

Yay!  It's a new swag bag day at Paper Issues!  I love the PI Swag Bag monthly kits that Cassie ships out. They seriously have the best bits in them to create so many projects.  I used only a 1/3 of the swag bag (if that) to create my project. There is so much left to use in other projects which is always a fun go-to stash to have out on my table to use on current layouts that I am working on!

I started with gesso and mixed media colors to go along with the items I pulled out.  I stuck with several ephemera pieces from Echo Park's I'd Rather be Crafting collection and mixed in other swag bag items to create a horizontal design with the larger quote and tag as anchors alongside the photo.

To make the bunting, I cut apart a 3x4 card of chevron that was made with the triangles. The swag bag included enamel dots, so it was an easy embellishment to add dimension and interest along the lower edge!

I attended this fun crafting workshop in Minneapolis two years ago that was hosted by Amanda Rydell and Maggie Holmes. Two other of my crafty besties also attended and we had so much fun sewing, painting, re-purposing old books into planners, and more. It was such an inspiring day in the arts district of the city!

So there you go! I hope you hop over to the Paper Issues store to grab a new November swag bag or be so smart and grab a 6 month subscription so you don't miss a kit! I love the variety each month and I am always inspired to create when I open these fun swag bags!

Sketchy Saturday: Ferris Wheel Fun

Today on the Paper Issues blog is a new Sketchy Saturday for August hosted by Amy!  Check out this fun sketch:
Image may contain: text

I used Echo Park Summer Dreams for my take.  I loved the ferris wheel designs that were included in this collection. I just had to pull out my MN State Fair pictures from last summer to find one to work with.  I switched it up and used one photo, but added the 3x4 cards to my design.  I started with an acrylic painted background with the light teal/aqua color in this collection.

Brads, enamel dots, and chipboard stickers to get all of the circles! I added stitching in various layers to add texture. The Summer Dreams collection has the cutest ferris wheel paper in navy. I used both sides of this in the layering because-- rainbow polka dots!!!

The "so much fun" card was a square cut apart that I sized down to fit this LO design. Don't save these cards for pocket scrapping! Use them on your traditional scrapbook pages as well! Machine stitching and enamel dots sprinkled throughout.

Hope your weekend is going well.

Toy Box: Sweet Dreams of Dinosaurs

A new product spotlight is on the blog at Paper Issues.  Go check out new Carta Bella Toy Box.  It is in the shop and the colors are bright and fun.  I also combined the new June Swag Bag with this as it had several papers from Toy Box.  I love adding the little bits that coordinated with this collection.  PI Swag bags for the win on embellies!

I added white gesso around the circle center before layering more circles and stitching. This helped to anchor my title onto a busy backgound paper and provided a white space for my journaling.  I used the PI swag bag for June to add the twine, stars, and layers of paper under the photo.  **Grab one now while it is still in stock.  I love a swag bag full of PI awesomeness each month!

Carta Bella has the most amazing paper texture.  It is truly thick and durable to add mixed media onto! The ephemera pieces helped to tell my playful story.

I can't wait to see how you use Carta Bella's new Toy Box collection.  I was happy to use it on a non-playing type of a page.  It worked to tell the story of Ryan's lengthy nap time at school and how he loves this particular spot in the room with the dinosaur protecting him!

Scraplift Summer Fun

Hello!  It's the first official weekend of summer! What are you up to?  We have fabulous inspiration to help kick off your Sunday!  Check out the PI blog for the beautiful original from Amanda and all of the design team takes!

I used Echo Park's Summer Fun collection and it was fabulous to create with.  I love the gray whitewashed woodgrain background paper for a fun alternative to white cardstock!  I need to buy more to use in a few more layouts!

Check out the fun enamel shapes and words.  I love the mix of textures it adds. Also, can't you almost taste the Dole Whip?!  I love the pineapple frosty bliss!

Loving the tropical vibe the leaves bring to the design!

Summer Splash!

Today we are up on the Paper Issues blog with all new collections by Echo Park.  I love these fabulous collections and have cut into a few of them already!  I used the new Summer Dreams collection and it is definitely a favorite.

I super-sized the summer cut file and cut it in navy cardstock. I glued it right onto paper and cut around it this time for a different look.  I tore the paper edges and layered them to create movement for a water themed paper.  It provides just enough splash to go with the paint splatters.
