Traveler's Notebook Summer Travels

Hello!  It's my parent's 50th Anniversary today and we just got back

 from celebrating on vacation with them! 

It was definitely a must to document and I am sharing two TN pages

 for 52 Favorites on the Paper Issues blog today-scroll down to see both!

It's so easy to pack a few supplies and document as you go!

This is week 31! Post on social media with #52favorites

I absolutely love the Pinkfresh mini puffy alpha and they are always my go-to for titles in my TN spreads!

I used the Kaisecraft little dots stamp that was included in the PI July Flyover States Scrapbook kit! 

 I love the subtle look it adds to the background! 

Added to the dots was an Amy Tangerine heart stamp to the background.

I took apart the Pinkfresh layered hearts embellishments to add the word together. 

The cut file connected  hearts are from the TN pages free cut file coming soon to the shop.

The best part of documenting as you travel??  You can photograph your pages right in the place you are visiting! That's right- set it right on the beach like I did, hold it up to the sun, capture the foliage around you, it's a fun way to remember the actual details you are journaling about!

 The tiny Pretty Little Studio star stickers are from July's Flyover States scrapbook kit! Perfect for noting details and places on a map. The background papers are from PI Kits as well, get the trend here??--all things that come in the kits get used!!

Traveler's Notebook Summer Travels

Hello, I am here share with you my spin on 52 Favorites! For those of you keeping track it is already week 27! I wanted to document stops in CA and places I thought were too cool to miss my moment standing there.

I love documenting summer life with my family, especially when I am traveling and taking lots of photos. The TN style fits this type of documenting so well. I used several PI scrapbook kits and Swag Bags to quickly create my cover and inside pages to kick off my "52 faves:summer edition!"

A favorite of mine is to use patterned paper to layer over the thin TN pages.The Carta Bella travel cut apart page from the June PI Pontoon Scrapbook kit was perfect to layer! How about all the cute mini letters from Pinkfresh!? When they arrive in the shop get alllllllll the colors!

So the focus of my photo collage was places I walked to, stood on, cool stuff on the ground and yes, a good pedicure nail color! Does anyone else take pictures like that when you travel?  I especially love the words in the wooden entry way planks that I found in the Unsung Brewery in Anaheim.

I have also started prepping other pages for photos, tickets, receipts, and maps from our travels. Don't forget to use those cut off paper branding strips, like this one from Carta Bella Let's Travel.

Shimelle Let's Go to San Juan

Today on the blog at Paper Issues it is all about Shimelle and her collections from American Crafts.  I love this fun travel collection she released this summer.  Go Now Go was perfect for my summer travel pics to San Juan, Puerto Rico.  I did more of a tone on tone LO for this photo of me against a gorgeous artsy wall!

It was fun to paper piece the background and do this design off-centered.  I have seen it done centered on the page and wanted to try a varied look.  I had the Cut It Up January challenge free cut file sitting on my desk, so I incorporated it into the photo. I added navy paper and a Shimelle puffy sticker to the cut file.

Here are a few close ups:

Love the bronze glitter Thicker phrases!  It makes thinking of a title so easy!  Also, the sticker booklet had words that went right with this travel themed page and the mini alpha stickers to spell out the city I was in.  The wood buttons and enamel shapes add a bit of fun to the corner of the photo.

Thanks for taking a peek at this fun way to use patterned paper for a textured background!  Sew down those strips of paper and lift them up for shadowing.  Go super colorful or stick with monochromatic like I did!

Product Spotlight: Dear Lizzy Saturday

Today we are creating projects with Dear Lizzy Saturday from American Crafts.  Here's my non-people focus layout--Shake Shack in Chicago!

I loved that the tables were from Brooklyn, NY (my daughter's name!) and repurposed from bowling lanes.  Plus, hello, coolest wood grain color!  This collection from Dear Lizzy has the coolest word Thickers that are brush script style.  Hopefully you got your hands on them when they were released!  Also, loving the bold navy in this collection and that kelly green/emerald green. Here's some of the paper!

I also used Dear Lizzy Saturday ephemera and even the wood stick from the cheese fries from Shake Shack.  A little bit of green watercolor drops around the ephemera and photos, I added stitching to the top details and called this travel layout done!

Paper Issues Take 5 Tuesday

I love picking items from the Paper Issues' Take 5 list and turning them into a layout!  It really makes me focus on how I can incorporate each detail into my design.  For September here are the options:

I used circles, wood veneer, letter stickers, globe/map, a border (stitching and paper), and enamel dots.  I love this paper collection called You Are Here from Simple Stories.  It was perfect for documenting summer travel and island life.

I hand stitched all around the circles that I had previously sketched with the Silhouette Cameo silver sketch pen. The sketch can be found on Ashley Horton's You Tube channel.  I was inspired from her first week of Stretch Your Sketch as she hand stitched around her circles.  Next, I started layering my circles.  This was fun to stick with a collection and not have to worry about if things coordinate.  The Simple Stories You Are Here collection has die cuts, stickers, pocket page designs, and papers (and so much more!).

Explore: St. Maarten

The Cut it Up Challenge for August is posted at Paper Issues. Grab this geometric crisscross line cut file for FREE. I imagined it as roads and this new map paper by Crate Paper Cool Kid was my choice! I started by sewing it down.

Then I added gesso to prep the papers for watercolor paint.

My last step was layering my photo from our snorkeling cruise. 

I can't wait to see how you use this new cut file or Cool Kid collection, both can be found in Paper Issues online shop.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

I loved the CP Craft Market string art letter paper and used some of the letters on this layout. Our toddler loves the window seat view and this captured him at age 3 during Spring break to Orlando.

I added stitching to the letters to make the title uniform in color and kept the colors to oranges and blues.

October Afternoon stitched banners from their Traveler Girl line, worked in well with this page theme.

I popped up the JET for dimension and called this challenge entry done!
