My Sweet Spidey

Boo! Happy Halloween! It's all about Halloween products today at Paper Issues.
I used American Crafts Bootiful Night for my Sweet Spidey layout.
Ryan was Spider Man last year and it was so comical
how his hand was always in our candy bowl waiting for
trick or treaters to come to the door.
He couldn't wait to answer the door for more "customers!"

Grab the holographic spider web from the Paper Issues store
and have fun documenting Halloween with a fun shimmer.
It comes with a sheet of black cardstock in addition to the web.

I added the mixed media black India ink splatters to the background first and then popped up the web with foam dots.  The ephemera and Thickers were layered on top of the web. More foam adhesive pieces to add height to letters that fell between the web.

We hope you enjoy the Halloween sale (50%)
that is exclusive to this week and only on Halloween items
in the Paper Issues store. Use code: Halloween to save 50%
on all Halloween items.

Hello Super Hero Friends!

Today it's all about the glitter and rainbows on the Paper Issues blog.  We are showcasing new products that just bring the wow factor!  I focused on Shimelle's newest collection, Glitter Girl and using a PI cut file for the base of my layout.

The puffy glitter shaker stickers are a must! Look how it fits almost perfectly in the cut file opening! These shaker stickers are so cute and add so much fun and playfulness to a layout design. The wonky paper polka dots"Get Messy" make this background so much fun. I love the clean white paper as a base for the colorful dots and prints.

Glitter foam Thickers in teal!! Yes, please! Love the fonts and the mix of block print and cursive.

The rainbow ombre style polka dot paper is so pretty as a raised layer off of the mixed media background.

Ok, just one more close up! I love these fun colors and the variety of prints in the new Shimelle collection. The Pink Paislee Girl Squad thickers were a favorite and it's perfect down below the main title.
Have a gorgeous day! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Preschool Picasso

Check out the blog today at Paper Issues for all of the Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart inspiration.  I love this bold collection that can be used for documenting so many fun things.  I have used it for travel pages, a page about my son with his cool sunglasses, a beach wavy design, and now an artist layout.

Here's mine using the painting icons as inspiration for this preschool art photo!

A few close ups:
Stitched border and a wonky, freestyle circle for the title and focal area of the layout. Perfect sticker book gold hearts to scatter and ephemera for layering..

White on white letters make me happy! They are the perfect size to add stitching over to ensure that they don't fall off the mixed media background.

The Hustle and Heart layered stickers are beautiful.  The puffy hearts are a sweet size to add to embellishing.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues shop for more beautiful Hustle an Heart items.
It is worth your time to stop in and shop--new items and so much in stock.

The Good Life

Today we are up on the Paper Issues blog showing you lots of fun ways to use your Stitch Happy sewing machine or thread to hand stitch.
I used the Stitch Happy twine from the Paper Issues store to hand stitch while I was traveling. This heart cut file from Paper Issues was the perfect size to hand stitch around.

A few close ups of the details on the layout:

The We R twine was the perfect match for the heart cut file paper which is from Amy Tangerine On a Whim.  This leaf paper was a close match to Paige Evan's Oh My Heart collection. I used up lots of scraps from past layouts to fill in the hearts on this cut file.

The rose gold journal card was a great size to be a photo mat. I used the chipboard Oh My Heart Thicker frame as a photo mat layer for dimension. These patterned papers are so versatile.

I scattered Oh My Heart puffy stickers and phrase stickers from Simple Stories. I added WE R Stitch Happy twine stitching in three of the central hearts for a bit more focus on the stitching nearest the photo.

Toy Box: Sweet Dreams of Dinosaurs

A new product spotlight is on the blog at Paper Issues.  Go check out new Carta Bella Toy Box.  It is in the shop and the colors are bright and fun.  I also combined the new June Swag Bag with this as it had several papers from Toy Box.  I love adding the little bits that coordinated with this collection.  PI Swag bags for the win on embellies!

I added white gesso around the circle center before layering more circles and stitching. This helped to anchor my title onto a busy backgound paper and provided a white space for my journaling.  I used the PI swag bag for June to add the twine, stars, and layers of paper under the photo.  **Grab one now while it is still in stock.  I love a swag bag full of PI awesomeness each month!

Carta Bella has the most amazing paper texture.  It is truly thick and durable to add mixed media onto! The ephemera pieces helped to tell my playful story.

I can't wait to see how you use Carta Bella's new Toy Box collection.  I was happy to use it on a non-playing type of a page.  It worked to tell the story of Ryan's lengthy nap time at school and how he loves this particular spot in the room with the dinosaur protecting him!

Summer Splash!

Today we are up on the Paper Issues blog with all new collections by Echo Park.  I love these fabulous collections and have cut into a few of them already!  I used the new Summer Dreams collection and it is definitely a favorite.

I super-sized the summer cut file and cut it in navy cardstock. I glued it right onto paper and cut around it this time for a different look.  I tore the paper edges and layered them to create movement for a water themed paper.  It provides just enough splash to go with the paint splatters.

Nature Spotlight

It is definitely time to be spending as much time as possible outdoors!  We have the spotlight on all things outdoors on the Paper Issues blog.  Here's my favorite time outdside in summer--being on the lake!

I used the new Photo Play Paper Lakeside to document a sunset boat cruise at my parent's lake home.
Lakeside is definitely a fun collection mixed with Campfire to make summer adventures come to life!

The cut file title Lake Life was cut on white and I used gesso to help it with not getting warped with mixed media.  I next mixed watercolors-blues and black to get a blue that coordinated with the lake color. You can find the cut file here for free.
I love this fun lake map paper called Hidden Lakes.  I also cut the layered circles out of the badges Campfire grid paper to use as an embellishment.

I hope you'll check out the Paper Issue store for both of Photo Play's new outdoor collections and so many more outdoor papers such as woodgrain that could be the perfect way to document outdoor adventures!

Doodlebug: Fairy Tales

Today on the Paper Issues blog it is all about the magical world of rainbows, unicorns, knights, and dragons.  Doodlebug hit the spot with all of these great new lines for kids, celebrating, and so much more.

Grab the rainbow cut file from the free files section of the store.  I added the extra stripe to the rainbow to add the purple.  I just copied the rainbow and used the knife tool on the Silhouette to cut the bottom stripe off of the extra copy and welded it onto the rainbow.  I needed the ROY G BIV bliss to make this rainbow complete!  The rainbow scallop border sticker was too adorable and had to be paired with the striped rainbow ribbons border paper and rainbow striped stickers!

So in love the cardstock stickers that Doodlebug has with all of their collections.
I used foam adhesive behind some of the stickers to pop them up on the layout.
The Doodlebug clouds are so stinking cute.  I need more!

The enamel shapes are fun to scatter throughout the design.  I love the sweet hearts in all of the colors!

Emoji Love

Product Spotlight time on the Paper Issues blog --it's all about Simple Stories Emoji Love!

This collection worked so well to document my daughter's birthday party from last spring.
She had all the girls do a craft and they each made an emoji pillow.
It was a lot of fun and this photo is perfect for sharing!

The close up of the cool pillows made by the girls.  The cardstock stickers from Simple Stories Emoji Love were so much fun to use for this layout.  I often add foam adhesive under the stickers to pop them up and create layers with the stickers.  I love the skinny rainbow striped paper as a photo mat.

The wide striped paper by Simple Stories is always a favorite in their collections.
This is the side B to the 2 Cool patterned paper with emoji words on it.

Loving the dimension and shadows it casts on the stripes.
I seriously love the wide stripe paper as it becomes a base for the design and perfect starting spot for mixed media splashes of color.  Fringe scissors would be fun for this paper as well!

Always be a unicorn!  Yes, always!
I love the fun layers of stickers and using the technique
of layering tone on tone whenever possible.
I kept the splatters of watercolors to the same color stripe area, too.

Have a great day and head on over to Paper Issues
Also,  check out the free emoji cut files in the free files section!

Family & Co: Play

I adore this spotlight for Fancy Pants Designs called Family & Co.  Check out the Paper Issues blog for so many great projects using this new collection.

I loved the wonky star paper and was inspired to back little pieces of Family & Co. paper in this fun cut file free in the Paper Issues store
I bought all of the things with this collection because it is so versatile for family life and all sorts of events!
This star tag was begging to be layered with this design!  I loved the ephemera pieces and chipboard stickers that I scattered throughout.  The puffy stickers by Fancy Pants are always so easy to use in each layout.

The chipboard alphabet stickers are so awesome.  Marquee style light alphabet letters make this a super fun touch!

The patterned paper has subtle patterns yet is so interchangeable with each double sided paper. I love that the colors truly blended with each other.

Pinkfresh:Live More

Today we are showcasing Pinkfresh: Live More collection on the Paper Issues blog.  I love the fun color palette with this collection, it was perfect for spring break pool pics!

Close ups:
I sewed together the two pieces of the Live More paper  and the plus signs Journey paper for the background.  I adore the time the kids have with their dad when we are on vacation.  They love that he is giving them full attention for fun in the pool all.day.long!  We live by the mantra to "work hard" and then provide lots of "play hard" memories like this as a family!

I love the puffy heart stickers included in The Mix by Pinkfresh.  The colors weren't exact matches, but close enough to work for this design.  I covered the s after the word Laughter as it seemed odd to me to have it spelled that way.  This gave way into the sprinkling of hearts throughout the page.

Those copper alpha stickers are so easy to work with and flexible if you need to move them/line them up multiple times like I do!!  The ephemera die cuts have the same rose gold foil, it was a beautiful shine to add to the vacation page.
