Snow Love

It's Round Two of the December Issue: Holiday Happenings at Paper Issues. Go check out the new inspiration on the PI blog. I love the snowy white blanket of freshly fallen snow best of all. It is so magical to capture moments like this as the photo is simple, yet, oh so sweet. Crate Paper FaLaLa was my go-to choice for this design!

I haven't used a kraft background in awhile, so it was a fun change for me! I love how the colors pick up Ranger's coat and it pops against the white snow/snowflake cut file.
This fun teal woodgrain was in last year's Simple Stories winter wonderland collection.  It was the perfect addition to the Crate Paper FaLaLa collection.

My paper must've shifted on the mat as this design cut-- you can see the last few snowflakes are off center!  I double cut all intricate designs, so this may have been the effects of the second cut and slight movement on the mat!  Well, like the saying goes- no two snowflakes are alike, they are all unique! Grab this snowflake background here.

Those sweet little flag banners from the FaLaLa collection are the perfect pop of color at the top of the photo. This Love and Joy Deer cut file that I used as my mega title "snow Love" is new in the shop!  I hope you'll try it out in your page designs!  Ryan adores his cousins' dog, Ranger, and looks forward to holidays to play with their dog! Ranger wasn't a fan of playing dress up with his Santa hat!

It's such a busy week ahead full of preparations and festivities.  I sure hope you'll also squeeze in some creative time to play with paper or create a project that fits in with this winter and holiday issue!  You can share your projects now through December 31st!  We can't wait to see what inspires you! See you online in our Facebook group at Paper Issues.  If you have time to check out the amazing sales going on at Paper Issues, it's worth your time to scroll through the shop to see what you need!

Home Sweet Home

It's time for round two of Home is Where the Heart Is at Paper Issues.  I am documenting how our neighborhood development looked from Google Earth when our neighborhood lots were being plotted and prepped for building.

I love the bold tonal striped paper that I used in the background. It had such an earthy, home feel to it, I knew it was just the one to document my home-building story. Making a move to a new city and building a home from the dirt upwards, is a scary and exciting adventure. The Thickers/sticker quotes in Turn the Page worked so well with home building and moving with a family of six!

I used the free PI cut file: Heart of the Home for my title Home Sweet Home and the wood slice heart design. I used some of the ephemera from Carta Bella/Echo Park Welcome Home collection.

This design uses the Pink Paislee Turn the Page: patterned papers, ephemera, sticker booklet, chipboard stickers, and wood veneer.  Isn't it crazy how quickly things change?  This photo was taken in 2012 or early 2013.  Now 4+ years later, the houses are all filled in down the street and around the ponds.  This pictures are hard to believe when you see the current development.

Thanks for stopping by for our new issue "Home is Where the Heart Is".
I hope you are inspired to try out a PI free cut file design or start documenting
your move, new house, fresh start, or building project.
Don't forget to grab a Google Earth image to go along with
your new neighborhood or old neighborhood story.

Which Kraft? Beautifall Moments

Today it's all about a new issue at Paper Issues.  The new theme to play along with: Which Kraft?
Go check out the Paper Issues blog for all of the details in what this issue is all about!
I was inspired to use the cork Thickers and a woodgrain cut file (as close to kraft paper as I got!). This photo of my crew is all about life in October.
Falling leaves and sunny skies are our favorites in fall!
Here's my take using new Carta Bella Hello Fall and a PI cut file.

Carta Bella Hello Fall paper and woodgrain paper to use for PI cut file were the base to build this fall design. Lots of foam adhesive to pop up the cut file against the Shimmerz mixed media splatters. The wooden leaves were included in a PI swag bag kit from last fall. I was hoarding them for the perfect project. This sure worked!

The cork-look Thickers worked for the new issue prompts to use cork, kraft, or other natural products. The Hello Fall papers were the perfect mix of patterns for backing the flower cut file.

I hope your October is full of festive photos and moments that capture this beautiful season of changes!

Together

There's a new issue at Paper Issues and it's called.... "Let's Give Them Pumpkin to Talk About" and that was a go sign to me to bust out the autumn collections for my project. I love this sweet family photo and it was the perfect reason to use the PI Rings of Life cut file.

I stuck with lots of Carta Bella's Hello Fall and grabbed the script gold foil foam Thickers from one canoe two and small gold Thickers from Maggie Holmes Carousel collection.

The Paper Issues free file wood slice cut file background made a great base to layer the photo and title. This photo was each family member's hand and a leaf we had picked-it is truly a family tree!

The small lowercase foam Thickers from Maggie Holmes Carousel collection have a soft green foam layer which picks up the green in the photo background. You can see how some of the tree rings I chose to leave unglued to provide more dimension and shadows. The Carta Bella cardstock stickers and Fall Forest tree paper made this design come together.

I love using the natural outline of the shape to place my longer title. I love using two fonts of Thickers alpha to accentuate certain words in a longer phrase. This soft patterned background paper is the perfect way to look at a background as your light neutral to build layers on!

I hope you'll get in the Fall spirit and join us at Paper Issues for this newest issue.

Let's "Taco" About It! New Driver in the Fam

The July Issue at Paper Issues is all about talking or Tacos...and all things in between!  "Let's Taco 'bout It" is the theme.  I went with using a speech bubble and lots of expressions I experienced having my oldest start driving!

I  love the new Stitch Happy sewing machine and put it to work sewing strips of paper horizontally to play off of the driving theme and create roads (Check out the stones Doodlebug paper for dirt roads!) like the one Ethan is driving on to Grandma and Grandpa's house.

I used a mix of Simple Stories #Whatever paper collection, Emoji and Doodlebug Design Dragon Tales papers. I love the Simple Stories small word strips that come in their 4x6 sticker sets. The Doodlebug Dragon Tales sticker sheets have fun words, stars, and speech bubbles.

I love the Doodlebug clouds paper at the top.  The overlapping clouds are such a fun print for an outdoor adventure.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
We can't wait to see how you use this new issue theme for July.
Play along and post your project on the Paper Issues Friends & Fans group on Facebook.

Friends-aversary Issue: Oktoberfest

It's an annual event and this was our third year!  Oktoberfest with friends and cousins meeting up at the State Fair grounds for the big event.  Pretzel necklaces are a must!! Pebbles Girl Squad was the perfect pairing for this photo! Have you checked out the Paper Issues blog for more takes on the PI Issue for June?

A few more close ups of the pretty new collection from Pebbles!  Go grab Girl Squad for all of your fun friend events and outings.  Hello foam script Thickers...totally a need for everyone!

Add all the little bits around the photo:  Girl Squad ephemera, puffy stickers, enamel dots, Pink Paislee Paige Evan's Take Me Away paper clips, Dear Lizzy Saturday clear stickers.

Always find a spot for an ampersand, lol!  Here's a close up of the layers and the pretzel necklaces-- the whole reason I needed this Girl Squad paper.

Have a great week ahead!  Make time to do something creative!
We look forward to seeing what fun things you create this week.
