Together

There's a new issue at Paper Issues and it's called.... "Let's Give Them Pumpkin to Talk About" and that was a go sign to me to bust out the autumn collections for my project. I love this sweet family photo and it was the perfect reason to use the PI Rings of Life cut file.

I stuck with lots of Carta Bella's Hello Fall and grabbed the script gold foil foam Thickers from one canoe two and small gold Thickers from Maggie Holmes Carousel collection.

The Paper Issues free file wood slice cut file background made a great base to layer the photo and title. This photo was each family member's hand and a leaf we had picked-it is truly a family tree!

The small lowercase foam Thickers from Maggie Holmes Carousel collection have a soft green foam layer which picks up the green in the photo background. You can see how some of the tree rings I chose to leave unglued to provide more dimension and shadows. The Carta Bella cardstock stickers and Fall Forest tree paper made this design come together.

I love using the natural outline of the shape to place my longer title. I love using two fonts of Thickers alpha to accentuate certain words in a longer phrase. This soft patterned background paper is the perfect way to look at a background as your light neutral to build layers on!

I hope you'll get in the Fall spirit and join us at Paper Issues for this newest issue.

Let's "Taco" About It! New Driver in the Fam

The July Issue at Paper Issues is all about talking or Tacos...and all things in between!  "Let's Taco 'bout It" is the theme.  I went with using a speech bubble and lots of expressions I experienced having my oldest start driving!

I  love the new Stitch Happy sewing machine and put it to work sewing strips of paper horizontally to play off of the driving theme and create roads (Check out the stones Doodlebug paper for dirt roads!) like the one Ethan is driving on to Grandma and Grandpa's house.

I used a mix of Simple Stories #Whatever paper collection, Emoji and Doodlebug Design Dragon Tales papers. I love the Simple Stories small word strips that come in their 4x6 sticker sets. The Doodlebug Dragon Tales sticker sheets have fun words, stars, and speech bubbles.

I love the Doodlebug clouds paper at the top.  The overlapping clouds are such a fun print for an outdoor adventure.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
We can't wait to see how you use this new issue theme for July.
Play along and post your project on the Paper Issues Friends & Fans group on Facebook.

Pedal/Petal to the Metal/Medal New Issue

I love Lisa's fun play on words and puns!  This month I interpreted the new issue at Paper Issues as Put the Petals to the Metal as I used florals and gold as an accent!  These florals from Crate Paper Heart Day were still in my stash and were begging to be cut apart for this new issue!

A few close ups:

I loved this Crate Paper Heart Day floral paper.  I fussy cut an entire sheet of florals for this page.  I wavy stitched over all of the layers of florals.  The center part of the cardstock was a mixed media green background I painted for this. It was layers of acrylic paint and splatters.

This pic of Brooklyn was snapped in West Palm Beach, FL over our spring break. It was nice to get some new pictures of the kids.  Also, I totally love the gold fabric stuffed hearts with the new Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection.

I also used the Maggie Holmes gold Thickers that are hot pink foam on the bottom. These were perfect for my pink florals! See the subtle pink in the close up? Super fun pop of pink and gold!

New Issue: Let's Play Post Office-Happy Mail

It's a new issue at Paper Issues called "Let's Play Post Office!"  I have had this sweet picture of Evan and his sweet letter that he received from Wilson Sports after sending a letter for a 5th grade project.  It was so awesome that the president of the company responded and sent him an awesome basketball.I used Fancy Pants Designs Sweet Nothings for this issue--how perfect is the letter paper and the ephemera that says Happy Mail?!  The stamps, the letters, the mailbox--all begging to be part of this project!

A few close ups to show the details:
The puffy stickers and ephemera are faves! This journaling card was part of a cut apart page and it was perfect for telling this story.

The puffy alpha are glossy and the perfect font! Love the look of the tone on tone.
The puffy stickers set has many images, icons, and words to use.  The puffy heart stickers were a favorite of mine.

The patterned papers in Sweet Nothings can be used for so much more than just Valentine's Day. I hope this design helped to show it can work for many things and even to document a boy getting some amazing mail!

Have a great day!  I hope you will play along this month with this new issue at PI.  We'd love to see how you interpret the new theme and ideas!  If you haven't looked at the Paper Issues store, go check out all that is new!  Save 20% with my code.

Stash Busters

It's a new year and we are up on the blog at Paper Issues with a new issue: Stash Busters!
It's time to bust through your stash and create something new with it all.  I loved this LEGO paper from Photo Play, My Imagination papers and had never used it.

I went with stash busting my new pack of My Imagination papers from Photo Play Paper.  I also have a Thicker obsession and found that these coordinated well!  I had wanted to use the Photo Play Awesome sticker and this was perfecct opportunity to tie it into my title.

I ran out of e's, but that didn't stop me from using these!  The @ sign made a great makeshift e and told everyone where we were at!  Stashbusting makes you stretch what you'd normally do!

I definitely put a dent in my stash of foam adhesive too, I wanted the layers of Photo Play papers and stickers to appear stacked like Legos would look when you are building! This paper that has the 6x6 squares of PP works so well for building layers as you get 5 patterns on a page!

My youngest two loved this trip to Legoland FL as we had been to the CA location and they loved comparing the two parks.  Having the Lego Movie characters there was a hightlight!

I love the Amy Tangerine round Thickers for this LO as the color worked great, but also it ties in the Lego block circles into the title.

Thanks for taking a peek into my stashbusting LO process.  I hope you will dig into something you have sitting around and make it work!  Also, use up those alpha and Thickers you have sitting around.  Get creative with how you use them!

You know, reward yourself for being a stashbuster!!

Remember December- New Issue at PI

Hello!  Happiest of December wishes to you!
We are kicking off this month with a new issue- Remember December on the Paper Issues blog.
I hope you are inspired and take the time to play along after your cards are sent and the cookies are baked!
Here's my layout with this super cute picture of my littlest reindeer when he was two at his Christmas concert!  I used Illustrated Faith Christmas and Bella Blvd's Holly Jolly Christmas.

The background is the holly branches cut file is from Just Nick Studio and the pops of red are this gorgeous Sweater Weather paper by Bella Blvd. I wanted the white on white look and added white stitching to the branches.  The border paper is by Illustrated Faith and I love the bold black with a look of snow balls on it!

I added ephemera from the bits pack of Illustrated Faith's Christmas and the cardstock stickers from Holly Jolly and IF's Christmas.
Aren't these bits and pieces from Illustrated Faith's CHRISTmas line just too cute?!  I love the little reindeer and how it works with my photo of Ryan.

I added my date and journaling to the side (the only long space I had available without a cut file layer on it!)

I love the white on white detail from the cut file and the ephemera pieces!  It makes me think of snowy branches on our trees here!

Thank you for joining us at Paper Issues with our new issue!  We hope you will document something about December, holidays, family traditions, etc... and post it to the challenge album!

New Issue at Paper Issues: You Knock My Fox Off!

We are starting a new issue for October called You Knock My Fox Off!  We are up on the Paper Issues blog today with some inspiration to get you started!   Here are some ideas to play along: use fox/woodland animal embellishments, create something about the people you love, have an element hang off the side of your project, Fall/Autumn, Halloween, photos of doors, use the PI fox card. We can't wait to see what you will come up with!

I used American Crafts Shimelle's collection, Go Now Go for my fall inspired layout.  I love how her Live patterned paper can be toned down with a large maple leaf cut file doubling as my photo mat.

I have been hoarding that cutest fox flair from a Studio Calico kit from a year ago.  It fit perfectly with this issue and was fun to finally use it!  My daughter just donated 11-12 inches of her hair this past June, so we both were in awe of how long her locks were just a year ago!  I said she fit the word "foxy" for her long curly locks of hair.
The bronze glitter foam Thickers were easy to bend to go along the edge of the leaf for my title.  The clear stickers were the mini title and I added the clear leaf stickers to cardstock and cut them out for layering around the fox flair. I used several cardstock stickers to layer around the photo.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my process for working with Shimelle's Go Now Go fun patterned papers and stickers.  I also have her adorable wooden buttons that I should've added, but completely forgot about until this very moment.  Those will be on my next layout with this gorgeous collection!!
