Sketchy Saturday

Today is a gorgeous new sketch at a Paper Issues!  Check out the Paper Issues blog today for Amy's sketch and the design team's take on this fun, multiple photo sketch.

I went with Merry and Bright by Fancy Pants Designs.  This is all about the December tradition of the elf.
I have a vintage Elf on the Shelf that was passed along to me from my grandmother.  This golden elf is named Twinkle and my youngest two think it's the funniest thing in the world to search for this elf each morning!
I mainly stuck to the sketch this month and added lots of Fancy Pants Designs Merry and Bright for easy coordination!

Here are some close ups of the beautiful Merry and Bright!

I love these Tall Tyle letters from The Cut Shoppe. I backed them and then added white papers behind it!  I loved the pack of  Merry and Bright tags and used many of them on this LO.

These tags by Merry and Bright are the cutest.    I used some as gifts, as shown above by the LO title.

Thanks for checking out my blog today.  I hope you'll take some time this weekend to get crafty!  Use this sketch and post yours in the Sketchy Saturday thread on Facebook PIFF for a chance at a PI giftcard!

November Sketchy Saturday: Wonder Fall

Today is a new sketch for the month at Paper Issues.  Check out this fun sketch by Amy Coose:
Here's my take using Echo Park Fall Is In The Air:
I love this background wood grain paper with the collection.
The acorn paper prompted me to get the acorn cut file that I bought last year from The Cut Shoppe and put it to use in the embellishment spots on the sketch.  I also used the leaves from The Cut Shoppe and watercolored and misted them.
I added photo mat papers from the same Echo Park collection.  I backed the acorn cut files with the rich brown patterned paper which is the side B to the acorn patterned paper.
I stitched around the patterned papers before I layered them to add texture
 and interest to the design.
I scanned in my handwriting for the title
and turned it into a cut file for this "wonderful" leaf page.
The background wood planks paper is such a fave of mine with fall pictures!  I hope you join us in using the sketch for November and post it in our Facebook group for a chance to win!

Paper Issues:Spotight on Doodlebug Design

Welcome!  Today on the Paper Issues blog, we are showcasing the newest collections from Doodlebug Design in the Paper Issues store.  I chose to focus on Fun in the Sun for this project.  I love the beachy vibe from this striped paper!

For the title, Life is Good in Summer, I wanted it to be anchored at the bottom of the page.  I added white gesso all around the photo area and around the word summer.  Next, I used the packaging technique and aqua watercolors/blue gelatos to add the drops of water and splashing effect around the page.  The cut apart section, "Life is Good" is from this awesome paper, perfect for card making as well!  I added Doodlebug stickers to the Summer cut file from The Cut Shoppe.  These are the Open Letters alphabet cut file set.

I added the Doodlebug Fun in the Sun stickers in groups around the page and messy threads.  To add more blue to the white gesso area, I stamped hearts from the Amy Tangerine's Oh Happy Life roller stamp.  I loved these pictures of the two cousins jumping in over and over on a hot July day at the lake!  I hope you are still documenting all of your summer adventures!
As always, check out the Paper Issues blog and follow up with a look at the store.  If you HAVE to have new paper pretties in your stash and haven't ordered from Paper Issues, try the store out!  I promise you will love unwrapping your extra fancy Paper Issues paper goods.  If you'd like to save 20% in the store use my code: Stacie

I heart this

Happy summer!  Today I wanted to use a Paper PoP on a layout for a Paper Issues challenge.
I loved this bright, happy picture of our day at Bunker Beach waterpark. This older Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine collection worked well to capture all the colors!
The sun paperPoP was purchased at Paper Issues. I cut out the title with the Open Letters cut file. I used white paint on a circles stencil to create a photo mat on the background.
I added stickers, enamel dots & hearts, and paint spots to finish it off.

Loved this: Flamingo Wall

Hello flamingos! I was all heart eyes when I spied this building painted in flamingos in Chicago.
I mean how often do you just find the perfect building to match your Paper Issues order card and washi tape to??
For this layout, I used a sketch by Creative Scrappers to start my design.
I liked the natural paint blocking that was already done on the Fancy Free paper from Pink Paislee. It was an easy way to incorporate the sketch and color without having to do mixed media! I spent my time in Silhouette Studio  rotating the design in the circles for variety before welding them in a grid.
I layered Fancy Free paper strips and washi tape and added hand stitching. I use the Amy Tangerine stitching kit to poke the holes with the protector mat behind the paper.
The circles are from the Inner Circle cut file from The Cut Shoppe into two grids to make up the two sections cut out of Fancy Free paper. I added the title from Dear Lizzy Saturday Thickers and embellished it with my Fancy Free stash! This is my take on Go for the Gold at Paper Issues as it was a favorite travel pic from this summer!

Cool in the Pool

Love this circles cloud from The Cut Shoppe that I stitched and turned into bubbles in the water. I used all Dear Lizzy papers and stickers for this pool picture of Brooklyn doing fun jumps off the diving board!
I used the packaging technique to drop the water splashes onto the background.
One more of the fun picture! Yay, summer!
Love The Cut Shoppe's Open Letters for fun title options!

Summer in So Cal

Paige Evan's new Pink Paislee line was worth the wait. It is gorgeous! I love the open letters from The Cut Shoppe. I welded the letters together for Summer. I will be using these letters a lot more as paper piecing little scraps is quite fun! Also, those coral thickers, yes, they are my fave from Amy Tangerine's Cut and Paste line and they need to replicate this font again! I love it.
A close up of the beautiful colors! This layout is a lift on Jen Chesnick via Paper Issues Facebook group.
Lots of layers and using every little scrap!

I love everything about you

Another NSD weekend in the books! This layout features cut files from The Cut Shoppe by Ashley Horton. These were in the same set and I altered them to create my title.
I used gelatos to color some of the paper and cut file words. Speaking of paper, I adore the She Blooms paper and enamel hearts from Illustrated Faith/Bella Blvd.
I loved this photo of my husband and I in Hawaii. It coordinated well with fun floral paper! Check out Paper Issues for the supplies and cut files from The Cut Shoppe. Thanks for taking a peek!

Beach Days Watercolor

Watercolors were a fave medium to work with in 2015. This page was for the Rainbow class at BPC to use a cut file as a stencil for a background.
I used the All Heart file from The Cut Shoppe for the background.
I tried to keep the title and all embellishments tone on tone to keep the busy background from looking messy.
I sewed the rainbow washi tape borders and watercolor design. I added lots of enamel dots because they are little bits of bliss to complete it!

At the Fire Station

Left side:
Inspired by Paper Issues each month to create double page layouts, and I have lost my mojo to do them regularly. However, here I go with one! Also, fun yellow stitching to the layers!

Right side
I used lots of Amy Tangerine Plus One leftovers in my stash for this. I had to play up the shiny fire vehicles we toured. I also added yellow watercolors to add paint splats and to color in designs.
Here's a look at both sides together. I used a newsletter free cut file from The Cut Shoppe. It also mimicked the huge yellow wheel rims. And yay, I squeezed all four kiddos into a layout!

You Shine

I had watercolored the triangles for a layout background from a class lesson from Ashley Horton for Big Picture Classes and put them to use in ombré fashion on this beach page.
I added stitching in various places to add texture and interest.
Check out The Cut Shoppe for the cut file for the word Shine and all of my other favorites.

Cherish This Today

The fall leaves are changing and it prompted me to bust out some pictures from last year. The Cut Shoppe does it again with these fantastic leaf cut files and block-out words to back with paper scraps. I stitched the leaves down in swirls.
I added American Crafts gold acrylic paint to the background and added Seven's Amelia gold dot vellum to float my pictures in the leaves.
I added Freckled Fawn washi tape and arrow paper clip to finish off this fun fall page. As for my favorite Kal Barteski script white Thickers for Amy Tangerine, yes, I may have stocked up!!

I Love You- All the Things!

For Paper Issues current issue, Chip off the old Block, this layout of my sister and I came to mind.
I used lots of sentiments from Elle's Studio. I scattered little bits from Paper Issues Swag Bag.
The Cut Shoppe has this "all the things" cut file. Sister time makes us cherish all the things as we catch up on life!
