Pinspire Me: January Edition

It's time to get sparkly!  Check out the new mood board for Pinspire Me January.  Mary-Ann has crafted an amazing inspirational spring board for you to get started scrapping!

I was inspired by the gold stars, so I used the free PI star background cut file and painted it with gold acrylic paint mixed with gold glitter glue.  It added just enough sparkle!

A few close ups of the mixed media cut file process.  The gold paint was shimmery, but muted.  The gold glitter glue added the littles shimmers of glitter bits.  This was a good contrast against the darker polka dots Hazelwood paper.

Here's how it looked after I dried it with the heat gun.

I loved my son's silly glasses pictures from summer.  They worked with this star theme and I wanted to use one canoe two's AC Hazelwood collection.  I was all about using the gold foam Thickers and the gold phrase Thickers from Hazelwood.

Check out the gorgeous gold sequins from the December Swag Bag!  I added several wavy rows of stitching to adhere the cut file down and  to create a subtle frame around the layout.  I used foam dots to raise up the photos and I matted them with vellum to help them not get lost against the sea of stars.

PInspired December

The PInspire Me mood board this month at Paper Issues is stunning. Mary-Ann always does such an awesome job at finding images that spark so much inspiration!
I am a lover of all things modern and with clean lines for decorating and these images made me go right for Pinkfresh Oh Joy for my layout.
I was so inspired by the black trees on the pillows.  I wanted to make a fringe Christmas tree and went with the Pinkfresh triangular trees to create the shape.
I sewed each layer together and then pieces the three triangles together and sewed the whole tree down onto the background.

Give me all the colors

I was so inspired by the colors in the August mood board at Paper Issues. The PInspired images that prompted this were the camper lines and colors in the roller skates/sky.
The new Pink Paislee collection by Paige Evans in my order from Paper Issues got me chopping strips of the painted stripes paper 4 and fringe scissor cutting them. It was easy and harmless!
I added the Crate Paper Thickers (the pink version would also be cute!) to the lower corner to bring the eye down to the bottom of the fringe rainbow.
I used the Take Me Away collection word Thickers, thread, stickers, and enamel hearts from Illustated Faith to the cluster areas. I also used the fun polka dots from Fancy Free paper 4.
I fussy cut the scroll quote from a page of quotes paper #24. It fit well with the Old San Juan, Puerto Rico colorful buildings picture from my June vacation. I hope you give fringe cutting a try on a page or on embellishments!
Also, I found out that fringe scissors aren't liked by airport screening machines or the TSA! The guy was intrigued and almost practiced cutting with them. He let me keep them; I told him I was a teacher prepping for the new school year! I guess I better fringe up something fun for my classroom now!! Have a crafty and fun weekend!

Dear Santa

I love drawing inspiration from mood boards and this month at Paper Issues is no different! Check out this Pinspired board:
I loved the large dandelion and translated that into the mega snowflake. The striped background is a cut file from Just Nick Studio and worked with design images from the striped onesie. I pulled in the Color Cast Designs wood veneer to bring in the circle image and background color of the onesie along with the Pink Paislee tag.
I used a variety of Simple Stories DIY Christmas, Bella Blvd, and Studio Calico papers.
This layout will link up to Paper Issues issue called, "Owl I want for Christmas."

This is the Heart of Summer

I was in love with the colors and summer vibe in the new Pinspired Mood Board at Paper Issues.
My new stash of papers included Simple Stories Summer Vibes. The background paper was perfect for a sunburst style cut file. This one is from The Cut Shoppe called String Art.
Using the paper as my guide for colors, I watercolored to match the patterned paper.
To help lessen the warping in the paper, I stitched down the center of each ray. I used the heart as my cutting template for my pool pictures and tucked them in. I stamped sentiments on the rays in similar color inks.
Happy summer! Enjoy these sweet days!
