What's App? Living that Starbs Venti Life

Hello and What's App?  I'm here today on the Paper Issues blog!  It's no shocker that I love coffee and of course, if you would ask me list my top 10 apps, my fave coffee apps would be on it!  The new Vicki Boutin Color Kaleidoscope mixed media paper pad had the perfect colors to document my Starbucks pic, gift card, and gold title details. I love a big circle swirl of paints!

I kept the photo full 4x6 size, for the sake of the purpose of this page, I wanted to show that the "starbs app life" is so convenient, as I can order ahead and pick it up at the drive thru! Simple as order ahead and instant bliss is waiting for you in winter or on all the days ending in y!! Coffee is life.

To balance all of the pops of gold, I added wood veneer embellishments-the Elle's Studio coffee cup, Shimelle wooden buttons, and mini hearts from a past swag bag kit. The gold Heidi Shine mist drops covered parts of my journaling, but you can still kind of read it. The ephemera is from Vicki Boutin's past collection and her current Color Kaleidoscope collection.

The cool cat clip just fit the colors and needed to be the focus of the upper cluster of embellishments. I love how it clips the layers together and brings the perfect burst of pink.  Layers and layers of VB Color Kaleidoscope papers from the March kit and available by the sheet in the store!

Happy New Year! Get in Motion!

Happy New Year!
I am up on the Paper Issues blog with a new challenge.
This January Challenge is all about things in motion.
I don't know about you, but coffee is what signites me into motion each day!

Motion or movement on the page could also be interpreted as the repeated circles and patterns on the page. The Joyful cut file includes circles that I cut in varying sizes and cut the coffee cups and sleeves into circles to layer around the photo.  For this design, I used two large coffee cups.

I started with white gesso on the red patterned paper to soften the edges around the circles.
 Next, I added  the splatters.
I dry them with a hair dryer after each color of splatters so they don't smear/blend.
The paint is watered down acrylic paint in red, black, and green.
Yes, total advertisment for Starbucks.  This is my third yearly design using their special cups.
This year, I had to document trying a new flavor: Juniper Latte.
Also, I love that it shows I was drinking more coffee at 4 pm!!
Tis' the Season to need
more hours in the day to do all the things!

 Yes, I agree--coffee=magic!

Love these Christmas Thickers in a wood tone color from Crate Paper Merry Days.  The mini foam alpha from Pink Paislee are perfect for secondary title words!

Make the 1st day of the new year a great one with
time to create and play along with the new

Red Cup 2017

It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues and we are lifting a fun circle grid design by Rachel. When I saw it, I instantly got to thinking about a Starbucks Red Cup holiday design. I love this gray toned wood grain from Simple Stories as the base of this fun and festive cozy holiday design.

Pink Paislee Turn the Page by Paige Evans has the perfect red (Paper 17) and green for the Starbucks cups! Use up your B sides of patterned paper for some subtle tone on tone pattern and a layer of color! Crate Paper FaLaLa has the perfect color embellishments in the chipboard, stickers, and ephemera pack!

Pink Paislee Turn the Page wood veneer star is perfect for holiday pages! Silver thread doesn't photograph well, but it sure adds sparkle in my album!

PI cut files Circles and Snowflakes has additional snowflakes in the download and I used these to tuck through out the layers in the design. Yes, the one circle cup was ripped, but I salvaged it without having to make a Starbucks run to drink another coffee for the sake of crafting!!

Join us at Paper Issues now through Dec 31st for this scraplift and all of the other challenges! We hope you will play along!

SS July: Hashtag Happy

It's July!  Summer is seriously flying by!  Today there's a new sketch by Amy up on the PI blog.  It was such a fun sketch to create with!  I used Pebbles Girl Squad for my take on the sketch.

My daughter loves being a tween and getting gift cards to shop and go to Starbucks with me! She would love if we could go each day.  The Girl Squad papers are perfect for documenting this fun memories.  The foam Thickers from Girl Squad are definitely a fave of mine this summer.

I mixed in some of Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams and Simple Stories Whatever collection stickers to coordinate with the Girl Squad papers and sketch details.

Have a great weekend and we are excited to show you more July challenges in the next few days!

December Swag Bag

It's Swag Bag time at Paper Issues!  The new December swag bag is full of golden goodness!  Have you checked it out in the store?  Here's mine-  I just received it in the mail today!

Here's my Swag Bag layout that I created with November's, October's and September's swag bags.

I was inspired by the Paper Issues order card with the coffee quote.  The Amy Tangerine watercolor circle prompted the circle theme!  I added the background paper to my swag bag mix and I added the coffee alpha stickers.  Otherwise, all the rest of the items are included in the swag bag!

Here are a few close ups:
I love, love, love the coffee card and the sweater paper!  So perfect for winter designs (or coffee)!  The Pinkfresh gold foil hearts paper fit right with my theme of my love of coffee.

I like the pops of pink that are scattered throughout the page.  I used more pink watercolor splatters on the background.

I snuck in the "I have issues" card to peek out of the coffee photo mats.  As in daily coffee issues!

I hope you are inspired to open up a swag bag from Paper Issues and get creative!  Cassie has the best coordinated bags each month and they never cease to amaze me!  I love to scheme layout designs and projects to use each little piece with!

Mix It up- the Red Cup Edition

Today it is all about mixed media at Paper Issues for a new Mix It Up Monday with Dona!  This month she is challenging us to keep it mainly a gray, black, and white LO with a pop of color.

I focused on using some of my Elle's Studio Tis the Season items for this layout.

Here's the quick process I did for this mixed media LO:
I started out by applying clear gesso on my white cardstock.  I dry it immediately with my heat gun to minimize warping.
Next, I applied layers of silver mist from Mr. Huey's and black ColorShine mixed with water for the packaging technique.
Then, I added splatters of gray and white watered-down, acrylic paint.  I added splatters of paint on my black cardstock before I cut it into circles.

I stamped my title using the fun Malia alphabet stamps from Elle's Studio.  I cut the Elle's Studio Countdown paper into smaller circles to break up the red and black.

Elle's Studio has such cute acrylic pieces to go along with their collections.  I loved this good cheer piece and how it worked so well to be part of my title.

I used some flair from Feed Your Craft.  I love the black and white love sentiments!

The stitched silver metallic thread stars were fun to sprinkle throughout.  The metallic thread is always a struggle to work with, but I love the results!
I covered up the big green Starbucks logo on the larger cup circle.  It ended up being too distracting!  Elle's Studio Countdown paper to the rescue!!

One last close up pic!  Thanks for checking out the details on this fun Mix It Up Monday at Paper Issues!  I hope you are inspired to get messy with your projects!

I hope you find some time this holiday season to include some of the details of your December into your projects!  Upcycle a red cup, napkin, ticket stub, business card, receipt, etc...  It is fun to see these items on your projects to compare and reflect back on in a few years!

Get messy and don't forget to stock up with all the fun supplies at Paper Issues.
