Celebrate 14

Hello!  It's all about celebrating today!  I absolutely adore this month's swag bag kit from Paper Issues and couldn't wait to create a fun birthday page with it.
April is my birthday month, so it's all about throwing the confetti around to whoop it up!
Evan my 14 year old may not love the colorful page design,
but I went with the inspiration from the candles on his birthday pie!
Here's my rainbow confetti birthday celebration:

Here's a look closer at the colorful details:
I printed out a large number 14 from my computer to layer the paper strips over.  I then flipped it over to cut using the dark outline of the numbers as my cutting guide.

Finished with the paper strips.  These are all from the 3x4 papers included in the April kit.
Plus, there are still several I didn't use in this design.
Gotta love a swag bag and the ability to use it for several projects!

Layout with the "confetti" splatter- Nuvo mists from the Paper Issues store, Heidi Swapp Shine from past swag bags, and Shimmerz mists.I loved the ephemera piece that said "happy" to tuck in above the yellow birthday paper.

I loved the puffy glitter ephemera from Shimelle's Glitter Girl collection.  It adds the perfect dimension in the vertical stack of paper layers.

The Pebbles Happy Hooray chipboard banner stickers worked
so well to create a banner across the entire middle of the design.

So that's my pop of colorful to start off your day.  I hope you are inspired to grab an April Swag Bag kit from the Paper Issues store and create your own "Party on a Page".

Fab You lous Today

Today it's all about the titles at Paper Issues.  Amanda set the challenge to use a banner in your title this month.
I love any reason to have to think of a title. I find that sometimes I am title-less lately and actually using a title as the design focus of a layout is quite fun! I think Fab-You-lous Today is fitting for this fun birthday layout.

I have hoarded this amazing woodgrain with grays and teals from the summer release by Pink Paislee Summer Lights. It was the perfect time to paint a Dear Lizzy chipboard word to match and pull in the Pebbles Happy Hooray text paper. It's pretty much tone on tone, but I love it with the black and white photos!

The Pink Paislee Summer Lights paper was also used in backing the banner.  It obviously was an easy choice as it complemented the background paper. The today title chipboard was painted using a gelato and watercolor mix to match the papers.

My husband's face by the third picture of Ryan attacking the candles--priceless. Oh, Ryan. Grab the free Paper Issues cut files.  This is a mix of fab you lous florals and the banner is from Merry Wishes.

We hope you'll play along! You have until February 4th to join the challenges at Paper Issues.

Sketchy Saturday

It's another month of awesome inspiration and challenges at Paper Issues.  Check out the beautiful new February sketch by Amy Coose.  Check out all of the design team inspo on the Paper Issues blog.

I just couldn't wait to try out all of the new collections this month, so this one uses Shimelle's Little By Little to document my cousin's daughter and her sweetest first birthday balloon basket!

A few close ups:  Get all of the Shimelle Little By Little.  Yes, you totally need this collection and all of its cuteness.

I layered vellum over the top layer of clouds, I wanted the pictures to pop and look like they were in the clouds!  The embossed clouds are fabulous!

Ther Thickers, little puffies, wooden buttons, and the ephemera together make a quick layout.

Give me all the polka dots!
Have a wonderful weekend. Hopefully you can play along with the sketch!

Cards

I loved the tree stamps and made the paper take on a vintage look by dragging the edge of a inked paper from an ink pad over the card.
I double stamped the title in red and black.
Using Photo Play paper to make a 40th birthday card.

Ryan: Golden Birthday

Paper Issues has a Sketchy Saturday link up and this was based on an October Afternoon LO by Sasha Farina.
I loved how she spelled out a word in descending boxes so this cut file by 17 Turtles worked perfectly.
These were all photos from Ryan's golden birthday. It was pirate themed, so OA's Treasure Map was perfect to use again.  Also, I love any reason to have circle photos, too!
I loved Sasha's double frame of stitching, so I did that here.
I enjoyed the nudge to use mist, sequins, and stars!  I'm linking up to Paper Issues Seas the Day new issue! Yay for pirate themed parties! Thanks for looking!

Two

A grid page to tackle several Instagram square photos. I used a mini roller stamp from Glitz Design to add movement to the center of the page.
Lots of numbers are always a good idea for a birthday page! This goes perfect with Paper Issues current link party.
